Best Whip Cream for Cakes
1 quart heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup of powdered sugar (also known as confectioner's sugar)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean pod (optional)
Split vanilla bean pod open and scrap out vanilla bean seeds. They are black and very tiny; they will give the cream these wonderful little black dots like those you see in vanilla bean ice cream. Remember to keep the pod which can be used in other recipes.
Place whipping cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean seeds into a mixing bowl. With a hand mixer, start mixing on low and gradually increase to medium high. The liquid will start to thicken and you know when you have mixed enough when it has become the consistency of think whipped cream. This usually takes about 7 - 10 minutes.
Now you can spread the cream on top of your cakes for a delicious dessert! For two layer cakes, try adding fruit to the middle layer after you've spread on the cream; great for strawberry shortcakes!

Starbucks Baristas Don't Like The New "Skinny" Drinks
At least one Starbucks barista cares, however, and he/she has written a serious manifesto against the new "skinny" label and is flatly refusing to use it in his/her store. He/She has many reasons, most of which are complaints that the label is confusing and meaningless (what if a customer wants 2% and no whip cream? What then, Starbucks?) and will make the barista's job harder. On top of that, He/She is offended by the idea of yelling "skinny" all day long.

Different Uses of Homemade Whipped Cream By Linda Meadley
You find grocery stores selling whipping cream for use in your favorite desserts. However the disadvantage here is that you can’t eat as much whip cream as you like. So why not get a whipped cream dispenser and whipped cream charger so that you can make your own whipped cream using flavored syrups in the comfort of your home, to eat as much of it as you want.
You can use ultra pasteurized whipping cream, baker’s cream or whipping cream to create whipped cream for your desserts. The ultra pasteurized whipping cream lasts longer as it is cream that was heated above 280 degrees and proves to be rather temperamental when being whipped. Though whipping cream is easier to whip, it is difficult to find in stores. Baker’s cream is only ultra pasteurized cream that has an added vanilla favoring and is great for use on cakes and pies.
When making whipped cream, make sure to chill all the ingredients and utensils first. Do this by chilling the cream in the coldest part of the refrigerator throughout the night and then placing the beater and bowl in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before whipping. Then pour the cream in the wet bowl, and add any flavorings if required. The best flavorings for whipped cream are almond extract, vanilla extract or Kirshwasser cherry flavored brandy. Remember to add these flavors judiciously as they overtake the cream.
Add some sugar and then mix all ingredients at high speed with a hand mixer till soft peaks form. However don’t over beat the cream and if you find that the cream starts separating, it means that it is curdling and changing into sweet butter.
Whipped cream is not only used in your desserts and coffee delicacies but also have other everyday uses. You can use whip cream as a substitute for shaving cream if you run out of shaving cream. It is interesting to learn that whip cream is an effective conditioner that should be used once a week. The cream has to be left on for thirty minutes and then rinsed a few times before shampooing.
You can use whip cream as a sour cream substitute by adding three or four drops of lemon with a cup of whip. Let it set aside for about thirty minutes to get sour cream. Using whip cream as a face mask works wonders in moistening dry skin. After applying it on your face, wait for twenty minutes before washing it first with warm water and then cold water.
A wonderful home remedy for lesions in your mouth formed from hot pizza or coffee lies in filling the mouth with whip cream. This helps soothe the burn on the roof of your mouth. Whip cream can also be used to remove make up where you first have to wet your face with lukewarm water and then spread some whip cream on the face. Then you rinse clean with lukewarm water and blot your face dry. And the greatest use of whip cream today is to help spice your marital relations by adding some flavor to your normal ‘desserts’. Add some excitement to your married life and you will see whipped cream stirring up wonders in your once boring life!
